Brady’s lasting fame came with his successful defense of Sickles in one our nation’s earliest celebrity murder trials. Brady was one of the first lawyers to use the temporary insanity plea in defending Sickles in the murder of D.C.’s Assistant District Attorney Philip Barton Key
