ABA is once again celebrating Pro Bono week in October and providing attorneys many ways to act “for the good.” Started after the financial crisis of 2008, the American Bar Association has encouraged legal organizations across America to participate in the National Celebration of Pro Bono with the twin goals of drawing attention to the necessity for pro bono participation, and to thank those who give their time year round….
Get in touch with your inner superhero by working toward justice for all! ABA Pro Bono sources include ways to volunteer... click on the one that interest you ….
- Volunteer to work with targeted client populations, such as ABA’s Immigrant Child Advocacy Network and its Military Pro Bono Project.
- Consider lending your talents to legal aid for re-entry projects for people with criminal records.
- Go Global with such groups as Advocates for International Development and the International Federation of Family Associations of Missing Persons from Armed Conflicts (IFFMPAC)
- Or stay local (as close as around the corner!) by clicking on this listing of state-by-state of pro bono opportunities. Travel no further than the outer boroughs by reaching out to Access Justice Brooklyn or The Bronx Defenders.
